Finance and Human Resources
Finance Office
The Finance Office oversees the responsible, transparent, and culturally grounded management of the First Nation’s financial resources, ensuring that all programs, services, and economic initiatives are supported by sound budgeting, accurate reporting, and strong internal controls. Working closely with Chief and Council, department leads, and funding partners, the office manages day to day financial operations—including payroll, accounts, audits, and funding agreement compliance—while also guiding long term financial planning that reflects community priorities and stewardship values. Through clear reporting and accountable practices, the Finance Office strengthens trust, supports effective governance, and helps advance the Nation’s long term economic and social well being.
Human Resources Office
The Human Resources Office serves as the central support hub for the Nation’s workforce, ensuring that employment practices reflect community values, cultural protocols, and legal requirements. It oversees recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, training, payroll, benefits administration, and workplace safety.

Why Third-party manage the First Nation’s Finance Office
The Key Reasons for Third‑Party Financial Management for Acho Dene Koe First Nation:
- Capacity Building & Skills Gap
Many First Nations face limited internal staff capacity or specialized expertise in areas like accounting standards, ERP systems, or financial reporting. A third‑party can provide immediate professional support while helping train local staff over time. - Regulatory Compliance
Funding agreements with federal or territorial governments often require strict financial reporting and auditing. Third‑party management ensures compliance with these requirements, reducing the risk of penalties or funding interruptions. - Transparency & Accountability
Independent financial oversight can build trust with community members, partners, and government funders. It demonstrates that finances are being managed responsibly and reduces concerns about mismanagement. - Stability During Transitions
When leadership changes or internal restructuring occurs, a third‑party can provide continuity and stability in financial operations, ensuring that payroll, accounts payable, and reporting continue smoothly. - Access to Advanced Systems
Third‑party firms often bring experience with ERP platforms, business intelligence tools, and automation that smaller finance offices may not have the resources to implement on their own.
