Mission, Vision & Leadership Statements
Our Vision
Our Nation is committed to preserving and upholding our inherent and treaty rights. We are dedicated to fostering a sustainable and prosperous community for future generations, in alignment with our core values and objectives. This vision provides direction and supports ongoing growth.
Our goal is to strengthen our First Nation by affirming our distinct identity, resisting assimilation, and cultivating respect among all Nations. Through these efforts, we aim to build trust, mutual respect, and honourable relationships between Nations.
Harmony and balance are fundamental principles for our Nation. We seek to maintain harmonious relations with the Creator, thoughtfully balance individual and collective interests, and collaborate effectively with other Indigenous and non-Indigenous governments and communities.
Our Mission
Our mission is clearly articulated: to establish a lasting legacy that empowers current and future generations to raise their families, develop businesses, secure employment, build homes, and educate their children within their local community.
Our connection to the land is strengthened by maintaining our language and upholding our cultural heritage.

Leadership Statement
As Chief of Acho Dene Koe First Nation, my goal is to strengthen our governance, build economic stability, and create new opportunities for our community. We are committed to a better future for our children, families, and those wishing to return.
Self-government in the Northwest Territories empowers us to establish our own governance and participate equitably within Canada. Our comprehensive treaty with the federal and territorial governments, along with agreements in Yukon and British Columbia, ensures:
- Recognition of our Indigenous rights
- Reconciliation between Indigenous and Crown sovereignty
- Land ownership and resource management participation
- Revenue sharing from resource development
- Self-governing authority that preserves our rights and title
- Ongoing recognition and reconciliation, enabling the coexistence and evolution of Crown and Indigenous governments.
