Chief and Council (Governance) Office

The Chief and Council Office provide the central leadership and governance functions of the First Nation, guiding strategic priorities, supporting the Management Office, and working jointly to oversee administration, and representing the Nation in all intergovernmental, community, and industry relations (when governance support of the First Nation is requested by its Group of Companies). Through coordinated decision‑making and transparent communication, the office supports programs and services, advances long‑term self-government, reconciliation, and specific claims negotiations and economic and community development goals are achieved, and ensures that all actions reflect the values, rights, and aspirations of the Nation’s citizens.

This office serves as the central governance body of the First Nation, responsible for:

  • Leadership and representation of the Nation
  • Accountable for oversight of programs, services, and administration
  • Strategic planning and policy development
  • Community engagement and consultation
  • Intergovernmental and industry relations
  • Stewardship of lands, resources, and economic development initiatives
